Racial Profiling

Racial profiling has become a very big issue especially after the case on 9/11. It is not only an issue for african americans and hispanics but also muslims, arabs and any other race that is concidered dangerous. For examplem in the article "Police-Stop Data Shows Pockets Where Force Is Used More Often" by Ray Rivera featred in the New York Times talks about how in Bronx, New York police enforcement have unreasonably tackled and used force against their citizens when they weren't even in any harm. Some people think its becasue they are fresh out of the police academy and are scared of getting hurt on the job. A simple task as of asking for their identification can go out of hand. The police enforcement is not supposed to lead more racial profiling but try to stop it by keeping their residents safe and this, is not a way to do it.
Also in the article "Racial Profiling of Muslims Is Justified to Prevent Terrorism" by Michelle Malkin featrured in the magizine of USA Today talks about how Muslims are suffering by racial profiling in this country. It states that if they were alowed to racially profile Muslims and Arabs in the time of September 11, 2001 then the twin towers could have still been standing and innocent people would still been alive. They know that feelings would be hurt and there would be dilemas over this choice but certain people think its the best choice for national security. Yet, many people would be charged or seen as dangeroyus without even doing anything wrong and that live peacefully on Americal soil. Also in the articvle of "Ethnic and Religious Profiling Is Necessary" by Carl F. Horowitz it also supprts the action of racial profiling. He thinks that this can stop terrorism from happeneing withing our country but in reality it is hurting our country more by giving a reason more for hatred.

  1. Alejandra I agree with you that since what has happened in the United States on September 11, 2001. What has happed in the Bronx in New York Police is horrible hurting their civilians that just because they live in the Bronx area. That is true in any type of job that requires that you have to put yourself after others is scared of what can happen. Here is this link that has to do with Tyler Perry and two white officers. http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/11/showbiz/tyler-perry-profiling-case/index.htmlI think that this link might help as more information because he states that he felt unsafe. There is also another link that I think would help you if you want more information and this link has to do with racial profiling in Arizona. With that bill of SB 1070 what has to do if a police man conducts a traffic stop and can ask the legal status. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/2012/11/16/20121116univision-show-says-police-were-racially-profiling.html

    1. I completely agree with both of you guys that after 9/11 things have completely changed and we have made an image of people that fit the profile of the 9/11 incident, it's really unfair and we should not do this but we are so stupid that we believe in our lies and see this people as monsters.

    2. Thank you Indra for those links having to do with police and racial profiling , they were very useful in the sense of learning more about how this affects people and their social lives in the street scene. We can even see that very famous people like Tyler Perry get stopped and interrogated.

    3. Isabel I totally agree everyone has their equal rights no matter what skin color they are and have the right to walk the streets safely and with no fear of getting stopped by the police for no reason. Stereotypes and the news give us more fear and we are just getting scared more and more everyday but yet it does not mean we are all the same.

  2. After reading your post several times, I cannot interpret what your outlook is on racial profiling. I acknowledge the fact that you analyzed the three articles but I can't seem to grasp your opinion. Racial profiling, as you mentioned, is a serious issue for anyone; having said this, what are your thoughts on airport security? Bullet points helped me come across my opinion as well as support it and I feel it would help you as well. You should try it next time. Nice work keeping everything concise and including the title and author referenced.

    1. My opinion on racial profiling is that it has become very dangerous and a very big issue today. Thank you for your idea on how to set up my blog I will try that next time that I do a post like this again.

  3. Great post but I am a little confused on your opinion. Do you think racial profiling is a good thing or not? I liked how you named the article but so you can save time I think putting links is easier not just for you but for the reader as well. What helps me with the gramatical errors is reading things out loud. That way you notice a lot of errors. Overall great job.

    1. I think that racial profiling is a bad thing. In the beginning of my blog I stated that it is a big issue and that it is very dangerous which was my opinion but thank you for the advice next time I will try to make it clearer and I will make sure I read it out loud.
